the extra gas?
Patriot gives the boys two reasons to pass the 75-mile line: good-value military golf and a course you cannot confuse with another Saturday muni. The catch is that “public can play” is doing a lot of work. You still need installation approval, every adult needs their own access, and winging it at the gate is a terrible tee-time strategy. Compared with Warrior, Patriot appears to be the more traditional, shorter course. That makes it the friendlier choice for the mixed-handicap group—but 6,890 yards and a 129 slope are not exactly handing out free pars.
OFFICIAL / HIGH-CONFIDENCE FACTS
- Patriot is a distinct 18-hole course unit at The Links at Redstone; it must not be merged with Warrior or represented as a generic 36-hole record.
- The Army MWR page distinguishes Patriot's Tif-Dwarf putting surface from Warrior's Mini-Verde surface and confirms the shared range, two putting/chipping greens, pitching green, bunker, pro shop, rental clubs and short-order restaurant.
- Current booking-platform data lists Patriot at par 72, 6,890 yards from the blue tees, rated 71.8/129. Because the official page does not publish a current card, treat this as high-confidence secondary data.
- Non-affiliated adults do not have unrestricted public access. The current official Redstone visitor page requires an in-person Recreation Badge request at the Visitor Control Center. Badge holders have limited installation access, including golf, through Gates 8 or 9 during published hours.
- Recreation Badge holders cannot escort other adults; each non-affiliated adult needs the appropriate approved access.
