The Ledges is the private invitation in this batch that gives the boys an immediate reason to say yes: you're playing on top of Huntsville with cliffs, rock and a course designed around the edge of the mountain. The 137 slope suggests the views come with consequences. This does not sound like goofy target golf. Hurdzan/Fry say they kept it walkable and routed common misses away from the cliffs when possible. Your pull-hook may still become a Huntsville weather balloon, but at least the course tried to help the rest of the foursome.

- Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designed the course, which opened in 2000.
