Chateau Course
The Chateau is the big resort-course option here: plenty of yardage, water on more than half the holes and enough bunkers to keep a shaky iron day fully employed. This looks like a course where choosing the right tees matters more than proving a point to the group chat. It makes the most sense when the foursome wants a full golf-day or buddy-trip stop, not necessarily when the only goal is finding the cheapest Saturday tee time. The golf has enough substance to justify the drive; the live price decides whether the value does.
If the Chateau Course asks how well you handle water and bunkers, the Woodlands looks more interested in whether you can keep the ball between the trees. The shorter card does not automatically mean an easier Saturday. Elevation, narrower sightlines and a wandering driver can turn “we’ll play the shorter one” into four hours of punch-outs. This has the bones of a fun resort round and may be the more interesting choice for guys who like shaped holes. The current construction-and-condition chatter keeps it from being an automatic 77-mile recommendation today.
